Pictures of the ice storm that hit Texarkana,  Christmas Day, 2000.   Trees and limbs broke all night long.  It sounded like a war was going on.   Most of Texarkana residents were without electricity, water and telephone for 10 days.

By Tuesday morining there was virtually no power left anywhere in the Texarkana area. The streets and roads were not frozen but you couldn't find any gasoline closer than Jefferson, TX or near Sherveport, LA. When the Albertson's stores opened about noon, running on generated power, check-out lines were two hours long.

Electric companies from many areas were sent to Texarkana to help restore power to homes.  They worked late into the night under very difficult conditions.

Lowe's were selling small generators but you had to get there at 6:00 a.m. and wait for the doors to open at 7:00.
